Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is the Gold Standard! It is gentle, very light, somewhat massage-like. It consists of using your hands, guiding the fluid in a specific direction and toward your Lymph Nodes. It helps decrease swelling, and pain, improves results, and helps prevent Fibrosis from occurring. Our bodies have many layers and systems, often they repair themselves. Over the years many have found that adding this modality has helped them greatly with a better healing response when using MLD. This helps stimulate your system to pump and move things right along instead of the fluid sitting in a specific place. MLD is great for those who have Chronic Inflammation issues or autoimmune disorders. For those who use MLD as a Wellness, it helps them keep the cellular waste moving and boosts their immune system, often resulting in not getting sick as often. Many people also use MLD when they are feeling sluggish, tired, and physically run down. Those with Lymphedema often are born with it and do not discover it until mid to later life but it also occurs from venous insufficiency and injuries. When Lymphedema develops, compression garments are also necessary to help manage this due to it not being resolved quickly.
MLD & Surgery
Considering Surgery or Dealing with Post-Injury Swelling and Pain?
Whether you’re undergoing orthopedic surgery, joint replacement, plastic/cosmetic procedures, or dealing with persistent swelling and pain from an injury, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) can be an invaluable part of your recovery process.
Why Choose MLD?
Before
After
MLD is highly effective in managing pain and reducing swelling, which are often the primary causes of discomfort and restricted movement post-surgery. In many cases, I’ve seen clients experience such significant relief that they can reduce or even eliminate the need for pain medication. This is crucial because pain meds, while necessary at times, can lead to various side effects and complications. MLD offers a natural, evidence-based alternative.
Evidence-Based Techniques
I use only evidence-based techniques, including those introduced by Dr. Vodder and other pioneers in the field of lymphology. MLD is a gentle, light, and intentional therapy that focuses on guiding lymphatic fluid through the body naturally and beneficially. With an extensive education in postoperative MLD, skin care, infection prevention, and scar tissue management, I ensure that your treatment is safe, effective, and tailored to your specific needs. I consider myself a part of your care team and often collaborate closely with your medical providers to support your recovery.
Important Considerations
If you’re undergoing MLD and experiencing pain, it’s important to know that true MLD is not painful and does not involve deep, forceful techniques. The practitioner should never reopen incisions or push fluids out of the body as you see on many Social Media Platforms. Such methods are not only ineffective but can also be harmful. Remember, it’s against the law for licensed massage therapists to perform these unsafe practices, and your well-being is always my top priority.
CANCEL & RESCHEDULE POLICY
24-hour advance notice is required when canceling or rescheduling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment. If you are unable to give your therapist a reasonable time of advance notice you will be charged 50% of your appointment fee.
